Kubera, also known as Kuvera or Dhanpati, is a Hindu god of wealth, fortune and prosperity. He is the guardian deity of the North direction and his abode is situated in Alaka on Mount Kailash. He holds a pot full of jewels to represent abundance and good fortune. Kubera’s main goal in life was to bring happiness through material comforts for all people by providing them with wealth, money and other resources such as food grains, gold coins etc., so that they could lead peaceful lives free from poverty. Kubera is traditionally depicted with four hands holding various objects that represent his divine powers; these include a mace (for protection), an elephant goad (for control over resources), a pot filled with jewels (representing abundance) and coins (symbolizing financial success).
